Babysitters Needed

The Student’s Association is looking for 3-5 babysitters above the age of 12 and 1 adult to look after children under the age of 5 in the loft of the Carriage House on November 13 (Tuesday) for the annual WTS talent night. All the babysitters will be reimbursed so this is a great way to earn a bit of cash or a WTS bookstore gift certificate! The show begins at 6:30 and will go for about an hour, but times are to be determined yet. Please email Rhonda (rwiersma@student.wts.edu) if you are interested. Reformation Day Celebration

Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church invites you to their annual Reformation Day Celebration on Friday, October 26th. The evening will begin at 6PM with a Soup/Chili Cook-Off.  Families are asked to bring a pot of your favorite soup/chili.  At 7PM Dr. James Dolezal will present a lecture on ” Dividing the Reformation: Politics and Doctrine at the Marburg Colloquy.”  There will be a lesson and activities for children ages 4 years old through 5th grade.  Nursery will be provided.

Autumn Hoedown

No, we’re not country bumpkins, but seminary students (many with families!) who need a little excitement every now and then. Come on down to Machen’s very own courtyard-transformed. There will be square dancing (lessons provided), pumpkin carving, and children’s activities, along with hot apple cider Please bring a harvest themed dessert or a side for dinner to share When? October 19 with a chili supper and corn bread beginning at 5:30. Hope to see you and your family there!

SA Snack Table Volunteers Wanted!
The SA is looking for volunteers who can help stock the Snack Table in the Student Mailroom. Help is also needed to make trips to Sam’s Club or Costco to pick up items every 1-2 months. Come join the fun of a corn maze!
Never been to one? It’s a maze, a cool design made in a field of corn and it’s a lot of fun to get lost! When can you get lost? Saturday, October 6. We will be organizing carpooling for those interested, heading 30 minutes away to Lansdale’s Merry Mead Farm’s 5 ACRE corn maze. Meet up at WTS lower parking lot at 4:30 PM. Admission is $12/person; you must wear closed shoes and no backpacks are permitted. This is a weather permitting event, so if you are interested, contact Rhonda Wiersma (rwiersma@student.wts.edu) so she can update you as needed and if you are able to help carpool. Brute Facts- Week of 9/24

Hello Wives of Westminster!  As you may (or may not) know, the seminary publishes a pamphlet each week titled, “The Brute Facts.”  The purpose of this pamphlet is to promote community life through effective communication and it is filled with helpful information about the weeks upcoming events at WTS.  Some of the information found in the Brute Facts each week might be helpful for wives of seminary students to know and while this pamphlet doesn’t always make its way home with your husband, we will try to post the information that might be helpful to wives here on this blog.

So, here’s the lowdown for this week….

Book Sale going on at the library going on now!

Do you like finding out more about what different Westminster students, alumni and staff are doing as they seek to advance the Kingdom of God?  Do you like to write?  The Communications Office at Westminster is seeking an assistant to research and write, in a compelling style, special interest stories featuring WTS students and alumni for development, promotional, and other seminary-related purposes.  Also involved in the position is assistance with President’s Office-hosted events.  Interested?  See the job description and application form, as well as steps to apply here.

The Global Mission Fellowship exists to LEARN about “the nations” & PRAY for them (and for one another) to be filled with the knowledge of the glory of God.  All are welcome to join us every Monday from 1:05-1:45 p.m. in the Loft (2nd floor of the Carriage House- bring your own lunch).  Monday, 9/24 will focus on England and western America.  Monday, 10/1 will focus on Greece and Malaysia.  Our fellow students from these countries will be sharing!

Friday, September 14th @ 1pm:  Professor Brandon Crowe will be leading a trip to see the Dead Sea Scrolls at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia!  Students will meet at the museum. Payment of $23.50 per person (check payable to WTS) is due in the Student Affairs office by August 15.
